1. Overview
Tossit ("we", "us", "our") is a service provided by Schaffer Energy Consultants, LLC that allows users to upload photos of items they want removed and receive an AI-generated quote for junk removal services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website at tossit.services or our Facebook application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Phone number: Used in two separate ways. (a) Verification — a one-time code is sent via Twilio to confirm you are a real user; this number is used only for that session and is discarded within 1 hour, not stored in our database. (b) SMS updates — if you opt in to receive SMS updates, your phone number is stored to send you quote confirmations, scheduling updates, and appointment reminders about your junk removal request.
- Photos: Images you upload of items you want removed. These are temporarily stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare R2) for the purpose of generating your quote and, if you opt in, sharing with a junk removal company.
- Quote information: Your name, phone number, email, and address — only collected if you choose to opt in for contact by junk removal companies.
- Usage data: We use Google Analytics and Meta Pixel to track page views, user behavior, and ad performance. This data is anonymous and aggregated.
- Technical data: IP address and browser information, used for rate limiting and security purposes only.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your identity and prevent spam/abuse of our free quote tool
- To analyze your uploaded photos using AI and generate a price estimate
- To deliver your quote and allow you to download a PDF copy
- To connect you with junk removal companies — only if you explicitly opt in by selecting "Yes, send my request to local junk removal companies"
- To track and improve our service quality and advertising effectiveness
4. Your Choice — Opt In or Opt Out
We give you explicit control over whether your information is shared:
- If you choose "No thanks — I'm just checking prices": Your information is kept private. No junk removal company receives your data. Your photos and quote are stored only for your own reference.
- If you choose "Yes — send my request to a local junk removal company": Your name, address, photos, and quote estimate are used to connect you with a junk removal provider to fulfill your service request.
You can change your mind at any time before submitting — simply select the other option.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Photos: Stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage with encryption at rest. Accessible only by our system and, if you opt in, by the junk removal company receiving your lead.
- Phone numbers (verification): Processed via Twilio Verify API. The verification code is temporary and expires within 5 minutes. Your phone number is not stored in our database after the verification session ends.
- Lead data: Stored in Cloudflare D1 database (encrypted at rest) with access restricted to our system administrators.
- Rate limiting data: IP addresses and phone numbers used for rate limiting are stored in Cloudflare KV with a 1-hour expiration — they are automatically deleted after 1 hour.
6. Data Retention
- Verification data: Deleted automatically within 1 hour of your session
- Photos: Retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted
- Lead records (if you opt in): Retained for 90 days for business records, then deleted
- Anonymous analytics data: Retained per Google Analytics and Meta's own retention policies
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Twilio: For phone number verification via SMS. Twilio Privacy Policy
- Google (Analytics): For anonymous usage analytics. Google Privacy Policy
- Meta/Facebook: For ad tracking (Meta Pixel) and page management. Meta Privacy Policy
- Stripe: For processing payments ($10 per additional quote after 3 free quotes). Stripe Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare: For website hosting, DNS, security, and data storage. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- OpenRouter: For AI image analysis. Photos are sent to OpenRouter's API for processing but are not stored by OpenRouter.
8. SMS and Messaging Consent
Tossit operates two distinct SMS programs:
A. Consumer Phone Verification (Transactional)
- Phone verification: We use your mobile phone number solely for one-time identity verification to prevent abuse of our free quote tool. Verification codes are sent via SMS through Twilio and expire within 5 minutes.
- Message frequency: You will receive a maximum of one (1) verification code per quote request. No recurring messages are sent.
- Carrier fees: Standard message and data rates may apply for the verification SMS, as determined by your mobile carrier.
B. Consumer SMS Updates
When you opt in to receive SMS updates, Tossit sends you text messages about your junk removal request. These messages include quote confirmations, pickup scheduling updates, appointment reminders, and status notifications.
- Message frequency: You may receive up to 5 messages per quote request, including your initial quote, scheduling confirmation, and appointment reminders.
- Opt-in: You opt in by providing your phone number and consenting to receive SMS updates on tossit.services.
- Opt-out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will no longer receive SMS updates.
- Help: Reply HELP at any time for support information.
- Carrier fees: Standard message and data rates may apply, as determined by your mobile carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
C. Consumer SMS Sharing
We do not share, sell, or otherwise provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent to any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
9. Facebook-Specific Data
When you interact with our Facebook Page or see our ads, Meta Platforms, Inc. collects and processes data according to their own policies. We use the Meta Pixel to measure ad effectiveness and optimize our campaigns. We do not sell or share your Facebook data with third parties.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Deletion: Request that we delete your data (except where required by law)
- Opt out: Choose not to have your information shared with junk removal companies
- Withdraw consent: Ask us to stop processing your data at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]
11. Your State Privacy Rights (California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others)
Depending on your state of residence, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. Tossit is committed to honoring these rights.
"Sale" / "Sharing" of personal information. We may share your information with service providers as necessary to fulfill your junk removal request. This is not a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under applicable state privacy laws. We only share your information when you explicitly opt in by selecting "Yes — send my request to a local junk removal company."
- Categories of personal information we share (only upon opt-in): identifiers (name, phone number, email), physical address, photographs you upload, and your job details and quote estimate.
- We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 18.
Your rights. Subject to your state's law, you may have the right to:
- Know / access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request deletion of your personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Because we only share your information when you affirmatively opt in, the simplest way to opt out of sharing is to decline the opt-in, or to contact us to withdraw. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by your state's law (generally 30–45 days).
12. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
15. CAN-SPAM & Email Practices
If we ever send you non-transactional (marketing) email, it will include a working unsubscribe link and our physical mailing address, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act. Transactional emails related to delivering your quote are not marketing and do not require an unsubscribe link. To unsubscribe from any marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in that email or contact [email protected].
